Absolutely not! When you adjust your own spine you are actually moving the vertebra that is directly above the subluxated vertebra. According to the laws of biomechanics, this vertebra is moving excessively to make up for the lack of motion of the subluxated vertebra. Moving this vertebra makes the ligaments that support that area of your spine lax like loose rubber bands. If you were to ever get into an accident or have trauma to that area, the lax ligaments would not be able to support your spine and you can have serious disc or spinal cord damage. The subluxated vertebrae can only be adjusted by the skillful hands of a chiropractor. A specific direction and amount of force determined by the chiropractor is utilized to make the adjustment.
